In an exclusive collaboration with Snack bars and their Mama sans in Odawara, we invite you to experience and learn about the drinks, culture and people who make the Snack Bar a special part of Japanese culture and history. This guided tour takes you into the hidden doors and down the alleys to find and enjoy an evening with Mama sans, locals, and you. Add to the culture and atmosphere of the iconic Snack Bars of Japan.

The Snack Bar in Japan has a wonderful history and place in Japanese culture. The scene continues to evolve and reinvent itself to stay relevent to the times and people. We combinea bit of history, culture, and fun as we explore the evening in Japan.
A Local Evening
Often a place for locals to come together in the evening, these snack bars are a wonderful palce to learn about the local culture, people, and recent topics of discussion for the area. Each Snack is independantly owned and operated, usually by the same person over decades, and we can visit a few or stay at your favorite the whole night.
Enjoy the Local Drinks
Each area of Japan has a local favorite or speciality. Come taste and choose your favorite, learning about the area through their local products. There are always non-alcoholic drinks available as well.
Culinary Delights, Amazing People
Many snacks offer light foods curated by the Mama san. These Mama san are often the reason people come to the bar. They are there to converse, entertain, and make your time there special and memorable.

Areas will be chosen to match your location. We are based in the Odawara/Hakone area.

We will meet you just outside the local station or even hotel. We will try to make it as convenient as possible.
A local bilingual guide with be with you from start to finish making this a stress free and enjoyable time.
Payment is accepted in cash on the first day of the trip.
The first few drinks are on us and we hope to make it as enjoyable as possible, but regretfully can not commit to an “all you can drink” evening.
we will us local public transportation, but will probably be doing most of it on foot.
